Community Service Volunteers

Community Service Volunteers offers people the chance to play an active part in the life of their community through volunteering.

CSV is at 17 Midland Road St Philips Bristol BS2 0JT. To find out more telephone Maggie Haycock on 0117 908 0070

Why should you volunteer?

Volunteers get to:

- Learn new skills

- Gain confidence and stability

- Feel good about themselves

- Meet new people

Having gained experience as a volunteer will also help your employment prospects.

Being part of CSV Local Action is all about taking part and helping other people who need your time and energy.

CSVs might:

• Befriend elderly or house-bound people

• Spend time with a person with mental illness as they get ready to leave an institution

• Accompany someone with a physical disability to the cinema or sports centre

• Befriend young people experiencing difficulty

• Take day trips with a person with learning difficulties to the park or maybe a restaurant

• Organise holiday projects for young people with special needs

• Help out in playgroups at a day centre

Every year CSV’s place hundreds of volunteers in communities throughout the UK. These include:

• Give and Take schemes, for young people who are at risk of, in or leaving care

• Community Care projects, where local volunteers work in homes, the community, hospitals, day centres and other settings where their help is most needed

• Homeless Volunteer programmes, for young homeless people to become involved in caring projects

• Befriending projects, where local volunteers share support, friendship and mutual interests with people who are disabled or facing difficulties and many more.

CSV’s guarantee a placement to everyone who meets the basic requirements of the local scheme (age, hours per week etc.).

CSV is a registered charity.
