Moving On
|
| Preparation for Move-on
The Housing Support Worker will talk to you about moving on into self contained accommodation and the practicalities involved. They will talk to you about things like how you will cope with paying the bills, how you feel about living on your own, and how to get furniture. When an offer of move-on accommodation is made, your Housing Support Worker will arrange to view the accommodation with you. If the accommodation is not managed by Priority the Housing Support Worker may talk to the new landlord with you. If you turn down the offer of accommodation, you can remain a Priority Youth Housing tenant/licensee and wait for another offer. If you accept the offer you will have to sign the new tenancy agreement. Your Housing Support Worker from Priority may accompany you and help you with your new Housing Benefit and Income Support/Job Seekers Allowance claims. In the new accommodation you will be responsible for the payment of bills. You will need to ring Electricity, Gas and Water suppliers, and arrange how you will pay your bills. Your Housing Support Worker may also help you apply for a grant such as a Community Care Grant or assist in applications to grants such as Bristol Municipal Charities or Priority's Welfare Fund for a donation towards costs in setting up your new home. Your Housing Support Worker may be available to help you move your belongings into your new home. Your Housing Support Worker will keep in close contact with you in the first month after moving to make sure that everything is going all right. |
